The Training Foundation has completely funded the development and hosting of this ground breaking initiative, to provide free training to those seeking their first employment.

The programme, launched in June 2005, is designed to make students aware of key issues in the work place, including many that could have financial or legal implications either to them or their employers. The course material is based on our corporate training programme, The Responsible Employee series, and has been customised, using Acce-Lerator, to make it more suited to this specific audience.

The programme has won significant praise and endorsement from many quarters, including Sir Richard Branson and Sir Digby Jones, Director General of the CBI. In addition, the programme is being promoted to the education sector by HTI (Heads, Teachers and Industry) whose remit is specifically to encourage initiatives between education and industry.

Students who successfully complete the programme may optionally apply for a certificate awarded by the Awarding Body Consortium (ABC). Although, there is a small nominal charge for this to cover the cost of administration, students also receive a workbook summarising the key points of the programme which they can use as a reminder or to show to future employers as evidence of their commitment and initiative.
